The shooter was still at large as of 10:15 p.m. ET and Texas Tech’s Twitter feed warned anyone on campus to shelter in place.

The suspect was described as 6 feet tall, 140 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, according to NBC affiliate KCBD, which first reported the officer killed.
