Taylor Swift’s first new music in over two years is a Zayn duet for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack – The Verge

Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik have released a moody slow jam for the soundtrack of the upcoming moody sex and masks movie Fifty Shades Darker. The song, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” is her first since her Grammy-winning 2014 album 1989, though she had writing credits this year on Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s “This is What You Came For” and Little Big Town’s “Better Man.”

Frequent Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, who has spent most of the year working on Lorde’s long-awaited sophomore album, produced the track. On Twitter, he said that he wrote the song with Swift and Sam Dew (known for penning singles for Wale, Rihanna, and Mary J. Blige). They recorded Swift’s vocals in his home in New York and Zayn Malik sent in his parts of the song from a studio in Los Angeles.

All this lends credence to rumors that Swift’s next album will have an “edgier” R&B and hip-hop vibe, a tidbit that many took as a sign of the apocalypse.

For those who care about these things: Swift and Malik are connected by their mutual affection for model Gigi Hadid, who’s a member of Swift’s notorious squad and has been dating Malik since February. They’re also connected by their mutual public iciness toward One Direction’s Harry Styles, Swift’s ex-boyfriend (who appears in many of her songs) and Zayn’s former bandmate (who appears in many of his subtweets).

The track is not currently available on Spotify (as with all of Swift’s work), but it is available to stream on Apple Music and Tidal and to download on Google Play and iTunes.
